Getting a puppy can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. With so much for you and your new puppy to learn where do you start?
If your puppy is under 14 wks old, Young Puppy Socialization Class is the place to start!
Your puppy's 'critical socialization window' (when they are more open to new experiences) closes around 12-16 weeks old. Proper and appropriate socialization is a foundation to a well rounded, confident adult dog. Negative/inappropriate experiences or even a lack of appropriate socialization experiences can have a profound impact on your puppy's behaviour as they develop into an adult dog.
While Puppy Socialization classes are not required as a pre-requisite for other classes they are highly recommended.
In addition to the Young Puppy Socialization Classes we also offer Puppy Group Walks and/or Private 1-on-1 Puppy Walks (more info below). These are fantastic opportunities to give your puppy more appropriate and/or positive socialization outings.
After Young Puppy Socialization Class (or at the same time), the next class to take is Puppy Class. This 7 week class teaches your puppy the foundation skills and behaviours we all want our dogs to learn and is the first stepping stone on your puppy's training journey. You have an option of taking a Group Puppy Class at the training facility with other students or taking a Private Puppy Class from the comfort of your own home. Group Puppy Class is open to puppies up to 5mths old (6 mths for small breeds) at the start of class. If your puppy is past the age limit, Group Basic Manners will be the foundation group class for you to take. *Note* In order to take an Advanced Level Group Classes (Leash Skills, Rock-solid Recall, Trick Class or Optimistic Einstein), you must have taken a foundation (Puppy/Basic) group class already.

If group classes aren't an option for you based on dates and/or times or you would like more one-on-one learning with a Multi-Credentialed Dog Trainer, please have a look at the Private Classes, Private Lessons or Day Training options below.

Puppy Group Walks - *Paused for the winter*
20-30 min Off-Leash (or on a Long Line) walks - $15
Open to puppies 3-6 months of age *some exceptions for small breeds*
Walks are in the Lac Du Bois Grasslands with other owners and their puppies. Your puppy will get to interact with other puppies of a similar age and practice appropriate social skills under the guidance of a Multi-Credentialed Dog Trainer.
These walks are not stationary play groups or structured training sessions.
The meeting point for these walks is not suitable for any low clearance vehicles. (SUVs and Trucks will be fine)

PRIVATE 1-ON-1 PUPPY WALKs
Looking for guidance while out 'socializing' your puppy in the real world?
20-30 min walks or socialization outings for you & your puppy with a Multi-Credentialed Dog Trainer - $35
Open to puppies 3 - 6 months old
Walks will be done at either an off-leash dog friendly park (for Off-Leash or Long Line walks) around town or On-Leash if doing a socialization outing around town.
Please be mindful of the time of day (daylight) when you schedule your walk as the days are getting shorter.
These walks are an opportunity for your puppy to practice appropriate social skills, have positive interactions and experiences.
While they are not structured training sessions the trainer will help guide you and answer questions you may have during the walk.
Potty Break visits
Does your puppy need to go out for a potty break or walk while you're at work?
Have a Fear Free Certified, Multi-Credentialed Dog Trainer and Puppy Start Right Instructor (insured and bonded) come for a visit while you are at work. These potty breaks/walks are an opportunity for your puppy to relieve themselves, practice appropriate skills and/or positive socialization outings in your neighbourhood 1-on-1 with a Professional Dog Trainer.
You could also opt to have the trainer practice some skills and behaviours inside your home to provide some mental enrichment for your puppy.
While they are not structured training sessions (there is no homework or follow-up email) the trainer will ensure your puppy is practising the skills you want them to learn and that your puppy is having positive socialization experiences!

Puppies with only 1 set of vaccines will be kept on your property.
Puppies with at least 2 sets of vaccines can go for short outings in your neighbourhood.
If you are registering for the first time, once registration is complete you will receive an email to schedule a meet and greet consult before your first scheduled walk.
